Award Descriptions and Criteria
Nominees for the following awards will be kept confidential. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges who will notify the winner just prior to the Chamber’s Annual Dinner on March 5, 2010.
Wagon Boss
This award is the most prestigious award presented by the Chamber of Commerce. It can be likened to a “Citizen of the Year” award. The Greater Woodland Park (Teller County) nominee should be a person of high integrity, great ethical standards, distinguished leadership qualities and actively involved with the community. Many times this person is behind the scenes bringing a project to life or creating great things without being in the public eye. He or she should be a model for others to emulate. Sitting chamber board members do not qualify for this award.
Business of the Year
(Chamber Membership Required)
This award is presented to a Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce small or large Business member that can proclaim Excellence in Business. Criteria include evidence of success through expansion and/or financial success, development and/or utilization of innovative or creative business methods and response in times of adversity. Ask yourself the question: How has this business made a big difference in the Greater Woodland Park or Teller County region in the area of public relations, customer service, employee relations and sustained in these tough economic times?
Employee of the Year
(Must be employed by a Chamber Member)
This employee should exemplify motivation, initiative, organizational skills, initiating new methods or approaches resulting in increased effectiveness or efficiency, ability to accomplish goals and meet job expectations, work ethic, customer service, dependability and teamwork. In addition, this person should set the example for other employees to follow. He/she should be a problem-solver who makes it exciting to work at a particular business or office. Generally the nominee comes through a supervisor, co-worker or customer.
Non-Profit Organization of the Year
(Chamber Membership Required)
This award is presented to a Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce nonprofit member (must be a 501 (c) 3 organization) that best reflects service to the community. This is your opportunity to tell everyone what your organization accomplishes and how you manage to make it possible. Criteria includes overall management focus on results, governance structure that moves the organization forward, strong, transparent and accountable financial management, inclusive, diverse and responsive organizational practices, enlightened use of human resources and technology, regular and effective communications and effective, ethical fundraising and resource development
Volunteer of the Year
This award will be presented to a Greater Woodland Park (Teller County) nominee who best exemplifies the true meaning of public service. The official will have distinguished themselves above and beyond the requirements of office, have impeccable integrity, dedication and character, and be recognized as a leader by peers, employees and constituency.
Project of the Year
This award is presented to a major project that benefits the Greater Woodland Park (Teller County). This may be presented to an individual, organization or business. The project must have had a significant impact for the community either through economic means, socially or from a cultural perspective.
