and Downtown Development Authority Spring Grant Program
If your business or building is located in the Downtown Development Authority Area, and you are considering
improvements to your building or storefront, exterior, parking lot, or landscaping, you may be interested in applying
for a grant. Read below for the detail.
The purpose of the program is to enhance the appearance and public experience in Downtown Woodland Park.
Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. Deadline to apply is April 30, 2009.
A total pool of $15,000 is available on a dollar for dollar match basis. Grants will be awarded on the basis of the
project’s impact on improving the overall downtown and generating more people or sales. Grant requests must fall
between a minimum of $2,000 and a maximum of $5,000, although grants certainly can exceed the $10,000 total
project cost. Rare exceptions may be made if an extraordinary project is submitted.
Application Guidelines and Form
Eligible Projects
Applicants may propose one or more of the following:
• Façade improvements, rear, side and/or front,
• Quality signage that meet design standards (must comply with existing city codes,
• New paint schemes and/or awnings that offer colors complimentary to the neighborhood,
• Landscaping rear, side, or front areas
• Lighting and decoration,
• Public safety improvements or other improvements visible in the public rights-of-way.
No routine roof, electrical, infrastructure upgrades or maintenance will be considered.
Process
Deadline is April 30, 2009. Reviews will be conducted by DDA Board members within 30 days of deadline and
notices of awards issued in that time frame. Criteria for awards will be based on the project’s ability to improve
Downtown’s appearance, enhance the public’s experience, and/or generate additional people, and/or sales.
Grants will be awarded on a dollar for dollar match basis and will be capped at $5, 000 for any project. One project
per applicant will be accepted. Once a grant has been awarded, the applicant will receive a letter of instruction.
DDA monies will be issued on the basis of final invoices and awardees will be asked to solicit contractors who will
allow for a thirty-day payment period. As with any project, all proposed work will need to be in compliance with
appropriate City and/or County permits.
